Coolant loss

Featured Replies

Hello in looking for help / advice I own a 14 plate ford fiesta zetec 1.25 I have been losing coolant which I have been topping up with water I know it's not the right thing to do .  there is no sludge in the oil cap and it's not running bad also no signs of leaks under the car at least from a quick look I only do short trips and it don't always lose a lot  Can anybody give advice or help .many thanks

There are a number of threads on this site about this subject.   Could be the cap or possibly cracks in the coolant container apparently.

You can’t always see the cracks.

Apparently, the cracks can be so fine that it only leaks when hot.

Totally true, I had a 2013 Fiesta & it only leaked after it had got hot (& whilst cooling down), I took it to Fords & they said the expansion tank had fractured (also a recall).
