Replacing electric window loom

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I recently installed and activated powerfold mirrors on our mk7 Fiesta. My query here is for work i want to do to our EcoSport but that forum is much less active and I assumed that doing the same to an EcoSport would largely be the same process as a Fiesta. There is very little guidance for the EcoSport in general and especially for powerfold mirrors.

I purchased a pair of powerfold mirrors from eBay taken from a 2018 EcoSport. My EcoSport is 2016 (the first facelift version where they got rid of the wheel on the rear). When i compared the connectors i noticed that they were a different size. My EcoSport has a smaller connector than the one powerfold one.

Now if this was the situation in a Fiesta, how possible would it be to replace the wiring loom so that the newer door mirrors plug into the wiring loom? I've been looking online and i'm not sure whether a new loom would be one single loom for all electrics within the car or whether the loom in relation to door mirror would be a separate replaceable loom. I read a post about a Fiesta mk6 where electric windows were being installed and required a new loom that had an extra connector for the window mechanism, but overall it sounded like that loom was for the functions of the door only.

Probably sounds like a lot of work just to fit powerfold mirrors onto the car but i'm keen to have a go for the experience as well as the result. The attached pictures are what the two connectors look like, with the smaller 8 port connector being the older car.

Cheers,

Mr B

A door harness is a complete harness assembly with all the circuits required fitted.

So that would be one door harness for the right side door, and one for the left?. Do you know if they're easily replaced if needed? Or would replacing it be a step too far in terms of needed to stuff away in the car to disconnect the old harness and connect the new one.

I'm going down the route of replacing is as if it was broken but its just to give me the correct connector shape on the harness to fit the newer wing mirrors
