What no insurance mods can be done on my fiesta zetec s red edition.

Featured Replies

I want to make my fiesta look racey. But im unsure whether mudflaps etc are allowed on a 17 year old black box insurance.

Best thing to do is ask your insurer.

I wouldn't think mud flaps would make the slightest difference but it's probably just as well to ask.

They may be lenient and let you change the footwell mats and maybe just maybe this could be at no extra cost on your policy. Don't expect much else to be authorised.

In all seriousness, decide what you are wanting to change or modify and as the good advice a couple of posts above says, ask your insurer if they will let you make the mods and not have your insurance invalidated.

Agree with you Bob if anything probably make car go slower with additional weight and wind resistance reducing fuel efficiency so should get a discount!😁

If you lower the car you could use them as a road sweeper too and possibly get paid by council.

Stickerbomb it with pages out of Nuts magazine...  That'll certainly make it look racy!

On a serious note though, if you just want standard flaps, I wouldn't even bother telling them.  If you want to add large, bright Rally style flaps they would probably class that as a mod and either refuse or charge extra.

Now, I installed rally slag mudflaps on my GT4, never told anyone LOL Mind you, never told them about the wheels either - I'm a very naughty boy!

Oooh, are they Superturismo's?  I'm not a fan of many aftermarket wheels but I do like those...

You'd probably get away with black flaps even now...but I think you'd struggle to convince a copper that these were original...

FIESTA ST180 2008 All Mk7 Models Inc Zetec S ELECTRIC ORANGE MUDFLAPS

Yes Tom, they are SuperTurismos, and they cost 40% more than I paid for my current Focus! 🤣 Life's a funny old game...

Nice Wheels......

But back on Topic, read the actual policy document.  It may be boring, but it will almost certainly have a paragraph on modifications.

As it happens, I renewed my insurance this week and it does state... 🙄 I really should tell them of those new plastic wheel trims I have! LOL
