Mk8 Air Filter Casing

Featured Replies

Hi

As in the picture that part as the whole of the air box moves a lot on my Fiesta MK8 2018 Zetec not eco boostj

But that perticular part rattles a bit, if you put finger on it, it stops

No point taking to dealer as obviously they'll say as to anything these days is normal for the car

Thinking of putting some rubber or alike to just hold it any ideas or best left alone?

Thanks

Got car in dealers on Friday to replace A Pillar fascia as it was not right and slight gear stick rattle in 1st and 3rd only on harder accelerating though does it now and again

Seems as though its the gear stick touching in the forward positions any ideas

I noticed a couple of days ago that my airbox on my Mk8 ecoboost had vibration/movement. I found a block of sponge rubber in the garage and pushed it into the space between the back of the airbox and front of the battery box. The area to the left of your finger nail. Stopped the vibration and noise. Bit of a bodge job but will look at a better way of stopping it when I get a bit more time. Don't think it really matters as I haven't noticed the noise from it while driving and it doesn't knock against any other part of the car while vibrating.

Did you resolve this, I tried to put some felt pad behind the area and it rattled more, so removed it

Thing is if you push it with finger it stops and sounds nice and quiet 🤫

I have the exact same issue , I think all mk8 filter boxes are like this, but I don't bother, let it rattle 😄 , mk8 rattles everywhere 😄 from the turbo wastegate rod to the high pressure fuel pump to door handles to heater matrix pipes 😄 should I count for you 😄 so let it rattle 😄

😂 They do i guess, mine just started to produce a plastic type rattle just as it comes to a stop. Behind the steering wheel in dash somewhere, for two seconds, very feintly but then it's gone as you've stopped

Might want to add tgat to the list 📃 👍

Think also the plastic pipes that snap into bottom of the air box and up along the top front just loosely connect in with lugs, they also wobble and wonder why they didn't use like a rubber seal on them also to prevent it.

just thought of an elastic band around and as it snaps in May make it a snug fit

Thing is if you put your finger on any of those parts that plastic rattle stops

Would quite things down a lot under the bonnet.

that pipe exactly once drove me crazy 😄 it rattled like hell while I was standing beside the car and bonnet was closed, I thought the engine is falling apart 😄

I quickly opened the bonnet trying to identify the source of the rattle , and once I put my finger on that pipe the rattle stopped completely, I took a deep breath and said thank you ford for scaring the hell out of me with this rubbish quality plastics 😄
