MK7 rear bumper won't unclip

Featured Replies

Hi

i'm trying to remove the rear bumper from my 65 plate eco boost, i've watched the online videos and removed all the plugs/blots/screws but i just cant pull the bumper off.

Any hints or tip would be amazing as i'm at the point where i just want to take a hammer to car.

Do you have a Hayes manual(other maintenance manuals available) always worth a good investment as you get a good idea of time and tools needed and how hard to do.

No,I used the online guide on here and youtube.

Might just take the hair drier to it and warm up the plastic with a bit of heat. Probably just not pulling hard enough as i don't want the clips to snap.

You sure you got all bolts and rivets out even the ones in the wheel arch.

You need to pull the edges outwards, rather than straight backwards if that makes sense...

😆 yes, all the bolts and clips are out.

Not sure I get it, do you mean you have to pop them straight up as they are on the side, so you are pulling up on the bumper ordo you need to push toward the body of car and pull up.

I promise I'm not just grabbing the back of the bumper and trying to pull it off.

Is it the side of the bumper you're trying to unclip, if so standing facing the side of the car, pull the bumper towards you.

As above, the sides need to pulled horizontally straight away from the car, so left or right depending on which side you are.  No up or down needed.  It feels like they're going to snap but they won't (well, shouldn't lol!).  Once they're unclipped each side the bumper will be loose and you can just stand in the middle and pull it backwards.
