Engine system failure

Featured Replies

Ford Fusion TDCI 1.6

engine system failure light comes on, when sat in traffic or when I have been driving for a while and stop and try to start the car again’ after 20 mins or so it will start again.

it the last 12 months had new glow plugs, water pump, belts and battery. Just changed  fuel filter, cleaned mass air sensor, and egr valve’ and still the engine system failure light comes on after running it’ but only if stuck in traffic or if I stop and try to start it again ? Car pulls really well no smoke issues help !!!

Needs plugging into diagnostics for error codes.

However i would be looking at crank sensor, my 1.4tdci MAF sensor failed but only went into limp mode.

I have had exactly same issue on my 2003 1.7dti mk4 astra, that was EDU that threw up p code for spill valve / fuel pump - fortunately it is a known issue and was easily fixable with a soldering iron and fresh lead solder.
