Removing Radio For Serial Number

Featured Replies

Hello all, and thank you for allowing me to join your forum. I have always found very useful tips for these and so, I need some advice. Bought a 1.3 LX for my daughter, BUT it needed a service BAD. I have everything done except I have to replace the Battery. Having a Focus as well, I know I need a Keycode to get the radio to work after the battery is replaced. The previous owner had never changed the battery before, so I know it's about time. as it was not looked after, the owner has lost the keycode book. So, how do I remove the radio on the dash to get to the serial number? It's a 4500 RDS EON. Thanks for any help!

Some one else might be able to confirm this but I think you can get the serial number by holding 6 and pressing 2, will save you taking the stereo out.

If you do need to take the stereo out get some radio removal keys off ebay for a couple of quid (or somewhere like Halfords if you want to be ripped off). They're basically 'U' shaped bits of metal which go into the four holes (two each side) in the edge of the stereo's facia.

I also got the radio code from someone on ebay while I was at it and spent about £5 on the keys and the code - which I doubt a dealer could match.
