1.4 TDCI mk6.5 my experience with diesel purge

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

Was watching YouTube the other day when I stumbled across Ed China doing an sponsored video for Liqui-Moly, and although he didn't cover Diesel Purge in his video, he did cover a range of other products from the company. I remembered a year or so ago thinking about ordering a can of Diesel Purge, but I wasn't entirely convinced about the motives of the company it came from. After seeing Ed endorse the company, I thought lets give it ago.

So ordered a pack of three from Amazon, and got my head stuck into YouTube and forums on how to use this stuff. Best way, neat into the fuel system is what I found.

Now many people run it directly from the tin into the fuel system, I decided to run it through the fuel filter and into the system that way. I was only concerned about stuff falling into the container and going into the fuel system. Plus my fittings would only fit this way, I couldn't bypass the filter with what I had in terms of attachments to the end of tubes since this car uses those quick release clip things on the fuel lines.

Before starting I made sure the engine fan had kicked in, which tells me it was upto temperature. It kicks in by itself, in the final video it is spinning away rather annoyingly. If anyone has read my previous threads then you'll know of the issues I've had with this car and that I was on the edge of weighing it in or breaking it for parts until this stuff was put through it.

Bleeding the fuel system of any air

At the start of the procedure listen to how tappy the engine sounds

I was alternating the revs throughout the procedure, just small video of that. Ignore the bassy sounding stuff, that was the airbox ontop of the engine not tied down so I could access the fuel filter earlier.

End of the procedure, engine note has changed and was annoyed the engine fan kicked in but you can still tell the difference

As I couldn't add another video in that post, here is the result in terms of driving. Obviously can't do much or show a motorway run due to lockdown restrictions, but can show a small section of my route to the supermarket

Should of done a before and after to hear/see improvement.

I did, the video after the bleeding process was the very start of the procedure. Literally the time it took to go from the key to the front of the car it was running lol. In terms of driving before and after, just look at my previous threads.

Regular servicing should include injector flushing. Preventive maintenance.

Yep can totally agree. This is my first ownership of a diesel car, and can safely say before every major service I'll be running a can of this stuff through. For ages this car has been a nuisance and this 'snake oil' actually worked. Tomorrow gonna drop the oil and new filter, just so I know it's good after running this stuff today.
