Loud horn kind of noise when going slow forwards and in reverse

Featured Replies

I have a really loud noise which happens when I'm driving slowly both forwards and in reverse. It happens more when I turn the steering wheel but also happens sometimes when I don't turn. I can't describe it any other way than like a horn. It can be really loud and embarrassing. I cannot determine where abouts it is, possibly middle to rear end but it's hard to tell. Can't find anything like it described on Google or YouTube. Please help.

Hi can you not post a sound recording to help identify problem. Could be slipping fan belt power steering whining brake squeal. Even cat under bonnet has been known.😁

Binding brakes can make a very trumpet like noise. Mine's doing same at the moment, especially when cold and damp and car not used very much. Try pressing brakes really hard when it happens and see if it makes a difference. Usually nothing to worry about if that's what it is, but agree it can sometimes be embarrassing.
