Fiesta ST200 (limited run one) Ferrodo DS2500

Featured Replies

Hello,

Recently i upgraded the brakes on my MK7 ST200 to the Ferrodo DS2500 pads.
When installing it looked like the pads were not large enough to cover the whole area of the disk...
After a while the outside of the disk started rusting and formed a ''lip'' (where the pad does not touch).
My problem is, when i am braking, i get massive brake squeel and it feels like i lost some braking power, it drives me insane...

Anybody have a simmilar experience?
I looked up all the numbers and it says it is the one for the ST180 so it should be the correct pad...
Disks are: Bosch High carbon 278 mm ones.
Fluid: Motul RBF 660

Thanks in advance,
Jelle

Have you measured existing discs on car? it states 278mm standard but they could of been upgraded before you bought it. Have seen 300mm and 340 for the same spec albeit uprated brakes.

Discs can have a lip quiet standard with disc pad wear. Squealing comes from anti vibration shims between piston and pad solution to solve use copper grease on shim between steel part of brake pad and piston. Obviously don't allow grease to contaminate pad brake material or discs.

Less braking power possible air in system/ failing brake pipe or hydroscopic fluid. You say you bought more fluid i assume you flushed the whole system and replaced not mixed.

Porsche say to solve squealing brakes do heavy braking - ie few emergency stops.
