2009 fiesta radio

Featured Replies

Hi am new here I’ve just bought my daughter a 2009 fiesta Zetec and am wanting to update the radio to a Sony but the plugs back on the back of them look different will I need to get the wiring as well

What year Sony stereo did you buy?

I haven’t yet but am looking at one from a 2013-2017

You need a Sony from the 2008-2012 range (or pre-facelift).

The facelift models have something called SYNC which is basically fancy Bluetooth that has emergency calling etc. I've yet to see anybody successfully integrate it to a PFL model. The bluetooth/sync module is located above the passenger footwell so requires a different wiring loom, hence why the connectors are different.

Hi Luke the one I’m watching comes complete with wiring loom for the radio would the loom be compatible?

Like I say I've never seen anyone that's successfully fitted SYNC into a PFL Fiesta. If you can get the loom for the SYNC module and change your existing connectors to the facelift ones then you may be able to activate it using Forscan. It seems like a lot of fiddly work when you can just buy a unit for a PFL.

An even easier solution is you can just swap the fascia panel on the front rather than the radio itself. The only difference in hardware is the amp quality. Apparently there's very little sound quality difference between the Sony and Ford, especially if you don't upgrade all of the speakers aswell. You'd therefore get more of a gain in sound quality by playing FLAC files instead of MP3 lol.
