Car not starting

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help,I've got a fiesta climate 2007,I've made the error of allowing the battery to go completely flat,it's now fully charged but since connecting it back up it still won't start, all the lights are working on the dash so is the alarm and central locking but I'm now getting a message on my dashboard that says my Engine Temp is too high, this is impossible as the car hasn't been started in 3 weeks, prior to allowing the battery to go dead I have not had any problems and the battery is less than 12 months old and a premium quality battery,so even though everything appears to work or come on it won't allow me to start, any ideas would be welcomed.

I would check the battery and connections again.

With the ignition on, turn the headlights on and check that they are as bright as they should be.  If you can actually measure battery volts with the lights on, should probably be about 11V.

With no load a duff battery can still indicate about 12.5V

Thanks for your reply,I will check again today,

What I should have asked is "Is the engine turning over normally on the starter motor ?"

I have had the "Engine Temperature too High" on my 2007 Zetec S petrol, which has disappeared when I have turned the ignition off, waited 20secs and tried again.
