Diagnosing Mk6 Fiesta Problem

Featured Replies

First post here, been reading a while.

Apologies if you're all sick of these posts but I'm at the end of my rag! Just got a Mk7 fiesta but want to finally get my Mk6 fixed before I have to go away for work.

As to the problem, the ABS light is on and the 30A fuse keeps blowing when driving away. I've been told by a garage that the problem was initially a sensor but then after not hearing anything from that garage for a few days they then said it was a faulty "ABS ECU" which requires sending off and costing several hundred more in repairs. Only reason I think it's not the ABS module is because the speedo still works. Tried to read with an ODB2 reader and got nothing.

All help is appreciated!

If you're not getting any fault codes but yet blowing fuses, I think I would be tracing the harnesses back to see if there are any issues anywhere first, unless the ABS pump is down and blowing the fuse????

Maybe then fit a 2nd hand ABS module in.

Isn't the ABS ECU in the module? I can't remember

Cheers for the reply! I'll have a go at tracing the harness this weekend then. The reason I don't suspect the pump is because it seems to brake like normal. And yeah the ECU and pump come as one unit and while they're not cheap on eBay they're a hassle to fit.

be interesting to know resolution.

Going to jack it up this week and have a look! The strange thing is there's no codes listed on my reader.
