Knock felt/heard when releasing clutch

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I'm ford focus mk3.5 1.5 tdci owner for less than a year. I think since the beginning, when accelerating harder and releasing clutch quickly on second gear, I can feel/hear one knock (it's not clunk or rattling - it feels like when clutch "connects" with the engine). When driving normal and releasing clutch smoothly there is no noise etc. Car just been serviced and they didn't say that anything is wrong after road test drive, however I don't know how technician was driving it as you can only replicate it when pulling off really dynamically. Is it something wrong with the car or that's the way it is ? There's no knock when on neutral or when only accelerating or braking. Does anyone noticed same or something similar ?

Sounds to me like you're stressing the driven plate springs or the release bearing by releasing the clutch too quickly, you've answered your own question, drive normal, that way you won't tear apart your clutch.

Thanks for that. I am not really driving like that all the time, it’s just sometimes need to pull from the traffic lights or when need to join busy road then have to do it quiet quick. I was a bit concerned that something is wrong with it but I dig through many forums and couldn’t find anything related to what I’ve experienced.
