Dual Mass Flywheel Lifespan

Featured Replies

My clutch has started slipping occasionally on my 2003 tdci and it is fitted with a dual mass flywheel. The cars done 75,000 miles and I was interested how long the flywheel should last?

All depends on how you drive, never changed a clutch or DMF on my las 4 cars,  3 mondeos and a Citroen C5 all did over 135k but then I don't drive in towns much. But if you are having a clutch change it would be false economy not to change the DMF.

1.6 TDCI DMF's used a grease control system rather than the conventional sprung system so they tend to last longer than other DMFs from around the same era.

Usually the DMF is on it's last legs by the time the clutch needs changing though, as they're both linked to driving style.
