Lowest rpm without lugging st

Featured Replies

Helloo there

Wondered what the lowest rpm would be for driving
Would be useful to know and also with warming the motor up in this weather
Have read people drive at 1500rpm this seems a bit low though for a petrol
Thank you

It would depend very much on engine power/torque, what gear you are in (and their ratios) and how you are trying to accelerate.

In my ST-Line 140 on the flat 1500 rpm is fine pulling in 1st to 4th gear, 5th and 6th would struggle a bit.

Will be different in an ST.

From cold I'll try and keep it below 2500 rpm but that's just my personal preference.

I've been driving over 40 years now and have never had any engine problems driving like that.
