Ecoboost exhaust upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi I’m Ellis and I have a 65 plate Ford Fiesta zetec s Ecoboost.
I’m new to car modifications, however I’m looking to get a exhaust System in the new year. I’m looking for a system with a low grumble idle, that can be quiet around town, then loud when you thrash it abit. Maybe some pops and bangs too 😂 but I have no idea what kits are recommended that are reasonably priced and give a good sounding experience. I want it to be legal and have no MOT trouble. If anyone could help me and suggest anything I’d be really grateful. Cheers

If it's not standard you might not only have problems with you MOT but with your insurance as well.

listen to some clips on YouTube and reviews etc. the sound you're looking for (heard cobra are pretty good) and your main issue would be the catalytic converters for emissions so just gotta make sure they meat the standards

If you remove the catalytic converters and/or filters (DPF/GPF) then it probably not pass an MOT. The best bet is to buy a "Cat back" system. I have a feeling there is a regulation about excessive noise, but I'd imagine that would only count if you have a de-cat, no silencers and side exit.

Obviously, if you do change your exhaust to a performance one, you should inform your insurance.

Mountune did a nice cat-back with twin outlets but, like a lot of their stuff, I think it's sold out at the mo. Iirc they sold it in a package with the ST diffuser to complete the look. Not cheap though.

This one: https://www.mountunestore.com/collections/mk7-fiesta-1-0t/products/fiesta-ecoboost-cat-back-exhaust Being Mountune it will be Ford Approved, For that reason it's what I would buy myself. I'm sure there are Youtube vids showing how it sounds.

Unfortunately it's out of stock at the moment according the their website.

Hi.

If you have any issues with insurance at all then please feel free to drop me a line.

Regards,

Dan.

Hi Ellis

I have a Milltek on my 2015 Ecoboost and its been good I went for the turbo back which included a motorsport cat so is complient with UK emissions law. There is few versions of this exhaust in that you can have a resonator which is a silencer that is just under the mid part of your car I went with this option and find it more that loud enough and quite intown. If you want pops and bangs youll need to change the engine mapping to get them.
