Stolen sd card for sat nav

Featured Replies

Fiesta st mk3 has had sat nav sd card stolen from it how do we replace it , other than going main dealer . Would the car memory have the old maps on ? And if so can we just buy an update sd card ?

would have to buy sd card preloaded with maps.

Could it be copied from another SD card?

I believe they are locked but you can probably get them off ebay cheaper.

Why don't you get one of these:

https://www.brodit.co.uk/brodit/vehicles/Ford/Fiesta/1990/651866.htm

then use your phone - it will be a much better satnav (Waze or Goggle maps) and always up to date!

I'll take the card out of mine and see if I can copy it.

Nav cards are copy protected whereby the serial number of the card is encoded into the licence file in the software so aren't useable if you directly copy to another card.

There is a way to modify the licence file with a new card serial but it's a faff to find the software needed and I've never got a stable copy past the F5 card point.

I've copied the card into a folder on my desktop.

Is this the licence file:

253880;12.01.2017 12:22:29;12;PowerSoftware;2.0.1.1;SFSD8192L3BM1TO;;15nm MLC;S8-0BBD0;8GB;schwarz

Spot on Clive. Copied the card to a freshly formatted card. Tried it in my car and it doesn't work.

Seems like an odd thing to steal.  Was it just missing when you bought the car or did someone actually take it while parked?

You'll have to buy a new card as others have said, cheapest on ebay.  The older cards are cheap on ebay but you could take this opportunity to get the newer card with the latest maps.
