Needing advice on diagnosing manual gearbox issue

Featured Replies

Hey,

So It's come to the time of year that I need to look at doing some car maintenance, though I've a few questions with regards to issue that I'm having.

I've recently had some gearbox issues, though I can't put my finger on it to say what is the actual issue nor the cost of a repair. I'm assuming that the first syncro is gone as It jumps out of first pretty much near every time I'm in first. I've put a link to a video that shows the issue.

Does anyone have any idea if I'm correct to say it's the syncro that is gone? Someone also mentioned it could be a seized gear selector too. No clue.

Also, would anyone happen to know where I can get replacement screws for the air intake filter box? Mine have rusted and worn down.

Thanks in advance!

(Car is a 1.6 TDCI 2010 titanium)

Even if the synchros had gone it wouldn't jump out of gear, that sounds more like a shift fork issue

Selector fork or not sure if it's cables on that car if it is then they may need adjusting , but definitely not syncro

That KS for pointing that out.

How many hours of labour would I be looking at to get this sorted?

I should be fine having a check over the cable to rule that out, but I don't really have the space or expertise to drop the gearbox, gearbox and engines are a bit out of my comfort zone.
