Waiting for the AA

Featured Replies

Orange spanner, powertrain fault, no power.

Waiting for ford/the AA to come and have a look.

I wonder if your GPF regen wasn't succesful?

  • Author

Maybe.  But it has been running better since i did that and I haven't had any other messages about it.

It stuttered, then the spanner came on and it will idle fine but won't rev.

I'll be annoyed if it is gpf cos I did exactly what it said to do.

Has the AA arrived yet?  Did you find another way to occupy your time during the jiffy that the forum was down?   (Although I admit it does look more snazzy now!)

  • Author

So it was this.  By the time he got there the spanner had gone and the car ran fine.  He said basically it could be an issue or it could just be a sensor having a paddy.  if it happens again I'll take it to the dealer and in the meantime I might ring Ford and see if its a known issue or there is a software update that can help.

Patrol found the following fault code/s:System : Petrol EEC5 (OBD) - 032 / Petrol EEC5 (OBD)Mode - . Error Message : 3, Static errors:.----- - . Error Message : -----.*P008A - Fuel low-pressure circuit. Error Message : Pressure too low.Patrol carried out the following special function/s:Mode 3/7/A, read fault memoryComplaint of spanner light and loss of power. Patrol tested all ok. advised member to contact dealer for further advice

I asked Ford. No common issues known.

But now I'm slightly paranoid.

Funny thing was Allen Ford contacted me later about changing so I'm going down Friday to see what they've got.

Looking on their site they have a Fiesta st3 and Vignale 155 that both appeal for different reasons.

Its happened again this morning.

Ford can't even look at til the 15th or get me a courtesy car til the 21st.

Makes me laugh.  On any dealer forecourt there are HUNDREDS of fecking cars.

Waiting to see if Ford breakdown can help me, if not I'll try customer services.

Not a common issue judging by the lack of replies here...

Can't remember if you have Forscan?  Might be worth a check as that may pick up something the AA scanner didn't.

  • Author

Yes i do, I might stick it on.

Oh dear. Hope you get it sorted one way or another.

I don't see why the dealer cant sort you a courtesy car out though either. Madness.

  • Author

So it's cool but I wish they published this info as it's not mentioned anywhere.

The AA provide a car for 2 days via a hire company.  If the fault is covered under warranty and the dealer hasnt fixed it, they carry on paying until it is.

And I'm getting a Fiesta Stline 125 so not a total bog spec either.

Update on the issue is that the EM light is now also on, the car is not driveable at all with this error reported in Forscan:

P06A6 Sensor reference voltage A circuit range/performance.

So yep, could be a 50 quid sensor has fecked the whole car, as is often the way these days.

I think they are either working on it or moving it.

Just had a whole slew of FordPass alerts about the engine managment service not being able to control the fuel pressure.

  • Author

I think they've cut off fordpass deliberately so I can't see what they're doing.

Lets hope so...the alternative is that it's just exploded on the forecourt...

They may have disconnected the battery or are doing software updates or module resets.

I noticed the same thing when my car was getting warranty work done to it that was not specifically for the Sync system. If you connect FORScan to your car when you get it back there maybe multiple fault codes because they have not cleared them after doing whatever they are doing.

On the good side they may have updated a lot of the software.

  • Author

That's a fair point, you could well be right.  Yep, I'll have a look at the codes.

I like the fact that after 2 days the dealer has to pay for the hire car.  Gives them an incentive to sort it.

If you are checking with FORScan and want to know if any of the software or hardware has been changed then connect up as normal using the old vehicle profile and take screenshots of the hardware and software numbers for all the modules, then delete the vehicle profile and connect up again and compare the numbers.

I called the dealer for an update.  It's an issue with the PCM apparantly.  Good old computers.

Cars are too complicated now a days can't be fixed by your average joe as you need the diagnostic equipment just to fix basic problems. Will only get worse with electric cars.

As far as i'm concerned if car is under warranty its up to ford to supply courtesy car till problem solved. Its there duty as well as the relay. My car is a ford direct car that comes with 2 years unlimited mileage warranty and relay cover. Bit of joke though cus car service is every 18k however to keep warranty you have to have a health check every year at £125 - covers relay and hire car costs.

German manufactures provide this service and is probably reflected in the cost of the cars to cover any eventuality but you get the service even if not the reliability.

Yes, and I've realised it's better to go through the breakdown. So that was 85 quid when I had the convenience check but worth it.

Allen Ford couldn't get me a courtesy car til the 21st Dec, but the AA/breakdown gave me one straight away that Allen Ford now have to pay for.
