New steering wheel rubbing on the cowling

I am hoping someone can help me with this i have fitted a ford c-max steering wheel to my fusion and it is catching the steering cowling at the back of the wheel , Has anyone come across this before when doing a steering wheel mod and is there anyway i can sort this ? thanks for your help

    Ok quick update on this i have been doing some digging and someone suggested putting a spacer between the wheel and the steering column just to raise the wheel by a few mm so it doesn't catch the cowling .I have heard of steering wheel boss kits ect but wanted your guys thoughts on this before i tried this
