High level brake light water leak fix

Featured Replies

Had some rain getting in the boot through the door latch on my 2006 Fiesta. Turns out the HLB light rubber gasket was flat and floppy and not sealing. Easy peasy fix - adhesive draught excluder rubber tape. Cut about 70cm with scissors about 5mm wide, chuck the old rubber in the bin, clean and dry the small dip in the plastic that it sits in and press the new rubber tape down slowly without stretching it all around starting halfway along the bottom edge and follow the ‘track’ exactly all the way round. Press the light firmly back into place in the tailgate until you feel and hear both sides click and it’s held in tight. Pour some water over it and check none is finding it’s way in and down and that’s it.

Oh, while it’s off it’s worth checking the bulb isn’t dark like mine was. Have a new 16w bulb handy. Job done.
