Limp mode probs.

Featured Replies

Hey guys & gals

Bit of an old topic but did anyone come up with a 100%solution of 1.6 tdci going into limp mode??

I've replaced,, turbo, egr valve, all vacuum pipes, fuel filter, turbo boost solenoid, inlet manifold pressure sensor, mass airflow sensor.

I think thats everything,

Go will drive fine whilst driving steady untill you go over 3.500 revs.car then goes into limp mode with lack of power some times EML comes on other times it doesn't. Have had multiple codes come up. Mass sensor,,so replaced. Egr code,, so replaced that. All other things changed to try and discover what is causing it.

I'm going out my mind let alone the cost.

Help me out please guys before I pull all my hair out lol

Sorry meant to mention I've had 2 carbon cleans and replaced cat with a sports cat. I'm just picking up new glow plugs as have read that a lot of ppl with tdci's have changed and solved problems.  I'll post later once fitted.

Got you, good luck, hope the plugs sort it out😀

I was going to fit them this afternoon but car is doing my head in. Went into limp mode 3-4 times on journey to collect g/plugs so by the time i got home i couldn't be bothered. Hopefully do them in the morning.

nothing to do with glow plugs they are just for starting engine you won't get limp mode with faulty plug car just wont start if cold. It will be a sensor fuel or exhaust turbo or engine management, air filter. Was all parts replaced new? What milage you got on car when was it serviced last. If car doesn't rev above 3500 then its in limb mode constantly.

All parts replaced brand new and serviced just last month,  if you go on to passion ford forum theres a couple of posts there and also here on Ford owners club have mentioned it too. Seems to be a common problem with tdci's, fiesta, focus even mondeo. Apparently the glow plugs stop on longer than conventional ones which are only used to start the car, these apparently stop on until the engine reaches temperature.

good luck my experience from removing them they snap make sure you put plenty of wd40 on and let it soak in for at least 1/2 hour before attempting to remove them.

If they snap its a head off job. Garages use heat to remove them. If car starts when cold that isn't the problem.

Gona run engine up 1st and use wd40. Gp's arnt in the head on the 1.6tdci they're at the rear lower down. Just below the egr inake pipe. Real pain in the asse to get to aswell. But needs must and all that.

Lol, I'm glad you knew 🤣🤣 if this hasn't completely solved fords national mystery then only thing left to change is the engine.  So hopefully later on I'll know for sure.

Will post results. 🤞🤞🤞

I need to add that I changed the air temperature intake sensor as well. Around £15 from Amazon.

Car hasn't missed a beat since
