FUEL to empty indication

Featured Replies

When I purchased my 67 reg fiesta in July the fuel indication to empty have fully fueled the car was always in the region of 420 to 430 miles. On the last 3 top up occasions it only indicates 310-315 miles. Any ideas please.

It adjust itself to your driving.   If you are only doing short journeys it would automatically reduce.

Yes, as Bob says it works it out based on your own average MPG as you drive. Mine goes to 417 miles to empty when I fill up these days. When I was going much shorter journeys it used to only show 305 miles to empty when I filled up.

As has been said above, it adjusts based on your current average mpg.

Even if you think your driving habits haven't changed you also need to factor in the current weather.

You'll be getting lower mpg because of the colder weather  and maybe you have the engine running for a few minutes before you drive off on frosty morning etc...
