New battery

Featured Replies

Has anybody had a problem with the size of the battery on a Fiesta mk8. I have been having problems with my battery since the 1st lockdown and even bought a Ctek charger but the problem still remains. When the car is left for a few days the car battery starts to lose charge until eventually it goes flat. Today I decided to buy a new battery from Halfords and get them to fit it. Unfortunately the battery fitting my registration was the wrong size, EFB100 277 x 175 x 175. Did not find this out until the Technician had taken mine out and tried to replace it with the new one and discovered it was slightly to small in height. Other sites recommend the same size as Halfords battery so I'm a bit stuck with what to do.

Have you had your battery checked and confirmed as being bad?

The mk8's are known for getting dead batteries if they're not regularly driven as they're constantly using the battery when not being used.

After Halfords had messed about with it my car wouldn't start because of a power steering malfunction so had to call the AA. Their technician checked it over and had to do a battery reset. He was going to charge over £260 if I wanted a new battery but mentioned one thing I could try was turning the WiFi off as this drains the battery, so am going to give this a try and see if there is any improvement.

😂😂😂 that sounds about right. Hopefully you've learnt Halfords are as useful as Anne Frank's drum kit.

I’m pretty sure this is a modern car thing, my current and past BMW Cars are well known for having flat batteries if left for two weeks with little to no use. With my daily mileage being a maximum of 8miles in the dark I’ve taken to topping up my Fiesta’s battery once a week with a CTEK charger and that seems to be keeping everything sweet, no messages on the Sync3 screen referencing the car battery.
