Ford Fiesta Zetec S 2006, no brakes after abs module/pump replacement

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently had a common issue where my car was showing the ABS light and loss of Speedo. I read that this can be solved by changing the ABS module. I bought a replacement and managed to change it, my car is no longer showing an ABS warning light and the speedo is now working. Only downside is that when I put my foot on the brake pedal it goes all the way down. I have topped up the brake fluid but this hasn't helped, I was thinking whether I need to bleed the brakes to remove any air.

Any suggestions/help would be  appreciated.

Thanks

Did you replace the ABS pump as well?

Yes, both the module and the pump. The replacement I ordered came with both as one piece.

After the ABS pump is replaced the brake system needs to be bled. If the ABS pump is not plugged and stored in the correct position it also needs to be bled. Bleeding the ABS pump requires a suitable diagnostic system to electronically open the valves inside the pump.

Thanks, I tried to bleed the brakes myself but the valves are locked tight. Taking it to a mechanic tomorrow to do the bleed. thanks for the suggestion.

deleted.

As stated above, the system needs to be cycled and primed using a diagnostics system, I believe it can also be done with Forscan software and a modified tunnelrat elm cable.
