Ford Focus MK3 window wiper problem

Window wiper problem

My window wipers turn on when I start my engine.  Sometimes it doesn't do it. And when it does turn on the wiper that should follow the first will cross over the first wiper and will snap off. It also does this when I turn the wipers on because of rain etc.

I had gone to see an autospark but he couldn't figure the problem. He calibrated them as much as possible. I have now bought new wiper motors and I'm waiting to get them fitted. However I am worried this won't fix the problem.

I now also have to get a new windscreen because the wipers have cracked it when clashing. Has anyone had a similar issue at all. Ford garages are so busy since covid, and any mechanic I speak to laughs  because they have no clue what it is.
