mk2 focus tdci judder on idle

Featured Replies

Hi, my 2011 mk2 tdci seems to judder on idle and shakes a little when I turn the engine off. is this normal being a diesel? if I rev the engine slightly the juddering stops and I mean as in holding the revs higher. as soon as the revs go back to idle it judders still. hope this isnt flywheel?

Hi Jason, mine does the same and have been told it’s the engine mounts, usually the rear one

Could be engine mount btw engine and gearbox, so called rear mount. Try to rock the engine, see if it moves. I had a similar problem when starting to drive. If it's flywheel than you would hear rattling sound that goes away when clutch pedal is pressed.

I had a new gearbox mount recently and my mechanic checked the engine mounts before as I get a noise under load sometimes but he couldn't find anything?

I remember my mechanic checking the engine mounts and he said it seemed fine but mentioned it almost seemed like the mount was too tight as there wasn't any movement at all. Do you think maybe this is the issue? as it's so tight the vibration is shaking the car a bit?
