Headlight bulbs

Featured Replies

Hi all anyone know what bulbs are in my 2016 focus st3 they're xenon but not sure if they're h7 or ds3. Ideally I'd like to upgrade to leds .Cheers

The xenons are D3S.

Are you upgrading because your xenons light up the road worse than halogens? If so then it's the actual headlight housing thats burnt out and not a problem with the xenons themselves.

Just not the same performance as when I first got the car

Yes that means the projectors inside the headlight housing are burnt out and need replacing (involves baking the headlight and taking the lens off the front).

Changing to LED's won't make your lights any brighter.

Never heard of this before

It was a very common issue on the mk2 (as they're all over 10 years old now). The mk3 seems no different, quite a few are starting to become a little dim.

Its just down to the amount of heat xenons produce which causes the reflective foil to burn over time.
