Mk6 auxillary belt - Fitting Kit??

Featured Replies

So guys & gals - am all ready to change the auxillary drive belts (mk6 1.25 with power steering and AC).  First time with an elastic belt, seen plenty of (slightly fiddly) ways of doing this using non-specialist tools to get the old off and new on (will resist the easy removal method with a knife should there be a slim chance I need to refit it!), including crowbars, large screwdrivers and swinging the alternator down, together with all the health warnings about potential belt damage.  So am good to go, but . . . . .

I've ended up with a continental v-belt "kit", which has the 2 required belts plus a fitting tool which I wasn't expecting (see pic), but it is missing any usage instructions, and 20 minutes searching t'internet has unusually drawn a blank so far.

So, in advance of me just trying to work it out tomorrow, anyone used one of these or point me to any instructions?  If they will indeed make the job more straightforward it's worth using them!

Thanks as always and a happy New Year, particularly to those who will also be spending most of New Year's Day underneath a Fiesta!!
