Additional key

Featured Replies

Hi there. Am picking up a 2015 Fiesta Titanium (so the non keyless entry model) next week and it only has one key. Am reading horror stories about how much Ford charge to replace and program so was thinking of getting the key (and the programmable internals) off of Ebay and then getting the key cut and programmed buy an auto electrician. Assuming this works can someone kindly look at the link and tell me that it's the right key :)  Thank you!

You will need the one without the key "blade" its hidden inside the the keyless car fobs.

If your getting it off a dealer either get them to supply another one or make sure you get a discount to pay for it - as you mentioned getting a proper Ford Key is very expensive.

Thanks. isnt that the one for keyless? Mine isnt keyless so surely it needs the blade to put in the ignition!?

That's the correct key for your car.

Most auto electricians will provide the key aswell as cutting/programming though.

Thanks! As I have one key, I think Timpsons will cut the blade for me. I've also read that if you put the new key in to the ignition and alternate between positions 1&2 4 times it programs it!. So I'll try that first 🙂

No, it will program the unlock/lock buttons using the method you described (or similar method).

The immobiliser chip needs to be programmed through the obd2 port or you wont be able to start the car with it.

Very helpful - thank you. So key cut from specialist locksmith, immobiliser chip by specialist and then I can programme the lock/unlock part? Or indeed one company to do all 3!

Just find a decent auto locksmith that can do it all in one hit for you.

Be aware that many are reluctant to cut self-sourced keys as the blade metal on some can damage their expensive machines.

Ring around and get quotes first.
