Galaxy ghia 2.2 diesel power drain problem?

Featured Replies

Hi, i bought a galaxy 2.2 ghia in Sep 2020 and was told just as i was getting in it to come home that there is a 'slight' drain on the system so if i don't use it for a couple of weeks (he knew i wouldn't be driving it much) then to just dissconnect the battery as it is a fault with all of these cars??? He was convincing and i am niave!! Well, it has to be started every couple of days or else it is completely dead, i have had a new alternator and new battery and my garage had it for a couple of weeks but we can't get to the bottom of it. Is this a fault with this vehicle?

There are many posts on various models about battery drain so it could be anything.

As the Galaxy is pretty much the same as a Mondeo or S-Max then try searching in those forums. A common theme seems to indicate the bluetooth module as a possible source for the drain.

Did the garage confirm there was a drain?

I have found a battery drain in the past by removing all the fuses from fuse boards, I know there sometimes have fuses tucked away, I can’t help you on that if there is any on your model . But after removing all the fuses and leaving the battery connected, for instance 2 days in your case putting all the fuses back and see if it starts ok .  If it does you know there is a drain through the fuse boards . I know it’s a bit of faffing about , but you can take out the fuses and reintroduce the fuses until you find the circuit that’s draining your battery. You might want to put let’s say five at a time to try and speed the process up. Rather than individual fuses one at a time , if you follow me .
