Possible battery issue?

Featured Replies

I drive a 63 plate 1.6L tdci

Had this issue once before a month or so ago, on a cold night, start up the car seems slightly hesitant to start but does start first time, and then as I pull away the power steering malfunction message comes up, and the abs, traction control and airbag lights come on the dash. Turned the car off and on again and it's fine?

Had a battery replaced yesterday after the car not starting in the morning, AA said the alternator was charging the battery. Someone on a fiesta Facebook group said it could be to do with the plug on the power steering pump under the passenger headlight, but does this explain the other dash lights??

Could it be a battery issue still?

Please can people advise as to what's wrong, thanks in advance.

Are you still getting the the same warnings after having the battery replaced? If not then it was probably caused by a failing battery.

Strange things can happen when a battery is on its last legs.

Has only happened the two times, this morning the car battery was dead again, so I had it replaced again (covered under warranty) and tested again; still showing that the alternator is charging the battery so what else could be draining the battery, or did I just have a dud?

Either

A: something is still on and is draining the battery.

B: the diode pack is faulty and the alternator is charging a little bit when the engine is running but is discharging all the time when it is not.

C: you are only using the car once a week for a two mile drive.

You need to find out what the current drain is off load. If you don't know how to measure this or do not have the equipment, Get an auto electrician to do it. It will take fifteen minutes and will not be expensive to find out.
