Fiesta stolling

Featured Replies

Hi I've got a fiesta 1.6 tdci 59 plate, now and again I put my foot on throttle pedal to pull off and it cuts out fine when it starts back up.Ive taken it to a garage had it put on machine and it's showing fuel fault anyone had this problem?

No but it is not likely to be a serious problem with the car. Either there is a problem with the throttle pedal sensor which isn't telling the car to squirt more fuel in when you press the pedal or the fuel pressure regulator which is not allowing the fuel pump to squirt enough fuel into the engine. It is more likely to be the former. These engines idle on a minimum of fuel and so any minor error will cause a problem. A third possibility is a slightly dirty injector which stops the fuel from forming a good spray when it is squirted in. you would normally notice this as a "lumpy" idle or a slight hesitation when accelerating from low speeds. It may be worthwhile putting half a bottle of diesel cleaner in each of the next two tankfuls which often helps if that is the cause. You will get it for £4 a bottle at Tesco (often on offer for £2) or about £6 at your local parts shop.
