timing belt change

Featured Replies

Does my 2004 1.4 diesel fusion have a timing belt or chain and if it's a belt when does it need changing, cheersvic.

It's a belt on these.  It'll be well overdue if it's never had one!  Recommended interval is 10 years or 125k miles.

At tom says above belt, however i just had mine replaced but i bought a kit inc water pump, idler and tensioner.

Also  i would suggest that the aux belt is replaced at the same time, coolant will be replenished when cambelt / water pump is replaced.

I used a dayco brand, used that brand on my vauxhall last year as well as my previous car before that.

I've just changed mine and if you fancy doing it yourself they are pretty easy, just make sure that you get the proper locking pin kit. although I believe that you can use drill bits of a suitable size the locking pins are dirt cheap on amazon anyway.
