2007 Transit 350 2.4 RWD LWB power steering oddity?

Featured Replies

Hi
Totaly lost all my power steering fluid via the high pressure send pipe  the other morning, not good. Thought it wouldn't be too hard to source a new one,but it seems that my van is an oddity in this regard? No one seems to stock it,( 6C11 3E586 BC),complete with the safety recall collars.Anyway I had to buy a used one from the scrappy, not ideal but I need the van daily, so no choice.
Is there something I'm missing in regards removing the pipe end from the steering rack? I cannot get it to budge and have had to cut the pipe to get the rest out, leaving a short section of pipe still in the rack. I thought this would allow me to rotate it to help remove it,but I still can't get it to remove. It's already had 24hrs with Plusgas after removing the plate and I've cleaned as much as I can of the corrosion around it.It 'looks' like it's just a push fit? so.....?
Any tips?
I imagine refitting the 'new' one is going to be a pita if this is anything to go by.
How safe is the van to drive with no power steering? I may need to take this to a grown up
Cheers
Davie

Am I right in assumming that the 'broken' pipe in the pictuture should just pull out? ie it was a push fit to begin with?
