Headlights come on but no light on dash and burning smell

Featured Replies

Hello, I have a 2007 fiesta mk6 zetec s 1.6 petrol. I noticed today that there was a burning smell in my car when I was driving and I had my sidelights on. I noticed that there is no light illuminated on the dash when the sidelights or headlights are on. It also smells like a burning rubber type smell. I have had a look at some fuses and they all look alright.

Any ideas what it could be?

Just to update. I found the fuse for the rear number plate light has blown and one of the rear lights is burnt and has the same smell that I was smelling in the car. Water has got into the light fixture and has burnt the fuse. Getting new bulbs and a fuse and will seal that fixture up and hopefully that fixes it.

Just picked up a new fuse and new bulbs and that has fixed the problem 😃
