No reverse

My 2011 Ford Fiesta is having issues with reverse.  First, I t’s an automatic transmission. The engine light goes on intermittently, and when it’s on, the car shifts weirdly. Instead of a smooth engagement into gear, it revs a little higher before catching the next gear.  It also has no reverse gear occasionally.  When put into reverse, there’s no grinding, just revs without going into gear. Also, the radio dies occasionally while driving.  
I’ve seen people checking for bad grounding, does this sound reasonable?  Or is there something else lurking here?  
looking for suggestions before I bring it somewhere.
