Fiesta Mk6 Facelift Fog Lights.

Featured Replies

I removed my blank plates today where the fog lights would sit as I am interested in fitting some. I came across the wire that is shown in the picture. The question is, is this more than likely to be the wire for the fog lights so will just be a simple plug and play, and where will this wire end up at the other end as currently my switch only has the rear fog light?

Thanks all.

thats probably for the fog lights then :) if you change the switch for one for front fogs and fit a fuse it should all work... all the wiring should be present in the harness but just not connected.

So do you think the wire will just be located in a blank on the current switch just now?

i would imagine that there is a big plug connects your switch to the wiring loom, the wires should will be in that but obviously your switch wont utilise them. (that make any sense? LOL)

Kind of

Would this be viewable if I managed to remove the switch?

yeah you will be able to see it when you pull the switch out, IIRC theres quite a few wires connect to that light switch panel

when i bought my focus it didnt have variable speed wipers so i bought the stalk and fitted it, the wiring for it is already installed but not utilised

Ok, thanks for the help.

Now to figure out how to remove the switch  I am hoping it may "pop" out with a butter knife

ive removed one of them switch panels before looking for a wire to tap into to make a switch illuminate when the key is in the ignition, cant remember for the life of me how i done it though im afraid. is there a panel below it thats screwed on? i might have pushed it from the inside

There is actually a little storage compartment just below it, I will remove this tomorrow and see if I can reach the switch from there.

Will report back.

Thanks again :)

On inspection it dosent look like there is any way in to behind the switch without removing the lower dash around the steering column.

thats a not so fun job too, done that on 2 mk6 fiestas, a mk1 and mk2 focus

i fitted fog lights to my mk6 fiesta, you have to replace the switch for the headlights with a one that has a an extra switch in it for the front fogs. it's all wired up to that big multi connecter that goes in the back.

How did you manage to get the existing switch out?

So from what you are saying, the wires are there and its just a simple plug in to to the switch?

as you sit in the drivers seat where that small cubby hole thing is by your right knee, that hole plastic panel comes off with a few screws then you will be able to reach up with a screwdriver and undo the three screws on the back of the switch gear. it's a hell of a tight fit and there will be swearing but it's worth it.

I think were allowed a tea break on certain topics  there comin along good mate, got the calipers, carriers and back of the hubs cleaned and painted. i'll stick some pics up in my profile of how it's goin.

do you want me to scan in pages from the haynes manual?

  • Author

That would be great thanks :)

Now looking for a cheap switch and lights

Actually, just realised you have the mk6 where as i have the 6.5. I imagine the manual will basically be the same anyway?

yeh there is not much difference between the headlight switchs.

just had a look at the manual and the only thing i can find on headlight switch removal is two pictures with writing. pictures 4.50a and 4.50b, the switch is the hardest part and takes the longest i think the screws holding the switch in where philps or a small torx bit.

connector out the back, take out the three screws and the switch will come out. push the new switch in place, put the three screws in and connecter back in, there should be a green fog light that comes on the dash to say your fog lights are on.

Thanks, the plug it talks of in picture 4.49, is the front fogs already wired up to this?

Excellent, what I was hoping

Going to search for the parts and hopefully have pictures up of it all working in the next few weeks :D

i think brand new from ford is about £150 but i did see these ones on ebay just the fog lights no wiring or switch they are the proper ford fog lights but had the angel halo leds round the rim of the light. about £69.99 a pair i think.

I have now managed to acquire the switch, fog surrounds and looking at some lamps. The only problem being I can not get my hands on the kit to attach the lamp to the surround. Will any screws do this?
