Fuel gauge not registering full when filled...

Featured Replies

Hello All,

2018 Ford Fiesta, 4000 plus miles.

Just filled my gas tank this AM and then looked at the gauge.  It was only showing 3/4 filled.  The gauge was working last week when filled.

Is this a out of the blue problem, or a common problem?

Thanks

R

Definitely got the amount in that you expected?  It's not uncommon for the EasyFuel to click the pump off early.

Can't say I've seen anyone else with this issue before.

yeah, when i fill up, it click at 1/4, 1/2, and the two clicks when the tank is full

If it’s clicking long before full, that suggests a blocked breather. It should only click off at or very near full. Sometimes the fuel pump can pump at higher pressure than average, which can also cause it to click off, basically because it thinks the tank is full when it isn’t. Next time you fill it and it clicks off at full, take the nozzle half way out and hold for 10 seconds then insert and see if you can get more fuel in. If it still goes off at 3/4, then either a blocked breather or the sender unit to the gauge is faulty.

try the needle sweep from the secret menu, the needle might be sticking, just to make sure that the needle can go freely all the way 🙂
