Hi , since purchasing my 10 plate 1.6 focus TDCI 2 1/2 years ago i have been plagued with EGR faults, the dealer fitted 2bthat did not work properly so he sent it to the main dealership which cured it/ This one lasted about 15 months before failing . i have removed it about 4 months ago and cleaned it , but it has now started to play up again . today i took it off again cleaned it as both the valve and the drive forks where stuck again . This time when i refitted it i blanked it off with a plate. AFTER clearing any codes and letting it tick over I checked for codes and found a pending code P042F manufacturer control , i deleted it but it came back ..QUESTION..is the ECU reacting to the blanking plate, or could the valve be sticking physically, maybe not reassembled correctly ...i dont really relish struggling to remove it as the bolts are worn and rounded may be just take off the stepper motor only pointless if it is the plate causing this new issue ..any ideas please.
