Mk 3 mondeo expansion tank cap

Featured Replies

Could any one please tell me what is the correct expansion tank cap for a mk3 mondeo petrol 1.8 The original one's details have worn off .

I have googled my problem and i have a part no 98BB 8100 AB which is a cap with a pressure of 120 kpa  how ever in the haynes manual it states the cap should be 124-145kpa  the working pressure of the cooling system is 138kpa . The reason for my query is a small amount of coolant is being vented from the hole in the tank neck where i assume it releases pressure.

I hope some kind soul can help me with this problem.

Regards

Tom

Thanks luke

Hi this may or may not help but if the coolent is getting past the cap along bottle neck or vapours are escaping past the seal a few passes of plumbers tape on the bottle treads will solve it and re seal the cap / long or short term
