Fiesta 2015 Sony stereo upgrade.

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I have a Ford Fiesta 15 plate here with Sony radio on in. And wanted apple CarPlay. I’ve seen forums and threads on this before but nothing with a 15 plate upwards or Sony radio functionality. I’ve been to Halfords. They said they can’t do it because of how the Hazard button and lock buttons are. They said they don’t have that sort of din adaptor. So was wondering what sort of din adaptor I would need for it. If it’s even possible. I was thinking it wouldn’t of mattered but clearly I’m wrong 😂

Any suggestions if it’s even possible would be appreciated.

Halfords are about as useful as a hotel in North Korea.

You can't add car play to your existing Sony unit, it just isn't possible. It's a bit like trying to plug an Amazon Fire stick into an old black & white TV. Basically you need to rip the Sony out and fit an aftermarket stereo for car play.

You can get fascia adapters and a din adapter on ebay, but they look absolutely abysmal compared to the stock unit. Unfortunately the shape of the dash just means there aren't many options for changing the stereo to an aftermarket one.

If you do decide to fit those double din adapters then you can fit practically any stereo Halfords sell. A decent wiring adapter from eBay will also keep the steering wheel controls working too. I think you'll lose the inbuilt microphone, aux and USB port though.

Thank you for this reply! I might just wait until I get another car with apple car play included in it. Not worth the hassle to be honest! And I’m not a mechanic o anything! Thanks for the response!
