Audio suddenly on mute 24/7

Hiya, 

Driving home from work 2 days ago my radio's sound suddenly turned onto mute without touching anything. The radio has a mute sign, the dial to turn up the sound is always on 0, I am able to sync my phone however it doesn't play through the audio system it is silent. I have tried resetting the radio and the sync system but nothing has worked. I called up a ford garage and the garage I bought it from however my friend who works at a garage states it could be a fuse issue.

Anyone had the same problem, what do I do to fix it? thankyou!

    i would check that none of the fuses that have anything to do with the audio system in your car have gone
