Clicking noise when braking - 2016 Fiesta Studio

Featured Replies

Getting a clicking squeaking noise when applying the break, even happens while at 1mph and applying the break, sounds like it is coming from the front of the car. Does not happen with I apply the handbrake, only foot brake.

I changed the pads 2 months ago, no issues until this week.

Any ideas?

What grease did you use on the ears of the pads and on the guide pins?

  • Author

Just generic copper grease I have had in the shed, not sure on the brand

Copper slip is no good on the guide pins. For starters it's an anti-sieze, not a lubricant. It'll also degrade the dust boots over time.

You need either rubber or silicone grease for the guide pins.

People say you need special grease on the pads, but I just use a tiny amount of copperslip on the ears and nothing on the back (they use anti-squeal plates nowadays).
