Could anyone tell me the correct procedure when parked at traffic lights,to leave in drive with the hand brake on or put into neutral with handbrake on,

Thanks in advance.

Hi,  I would say that you stayed in Drive and applied the handbrake. It is easier to keep the footbrake on but can cause dazzle to following drivers. You could select N but you would still need the handbrake, and this causes slight wear when the drive is re applied. You take your choice!

Obviously being stationary in any gear is not a good thing for a long time, but ok at traffic lights and railway crossings.
