Oily Spark Plugs

Featured Replies

When carrying out a major service I found that all 3 Spark Plugs had oily threads in a Fiesta 1.0, is this head gasket related or the more serious piston ring issue?

From the research I've done the suggestion is the former, although can't find a definitive answer, but will take a look hopefully this weekend.

Anyone also know the part numbers for the gasket rings etc?

TIA

I suspect that your piston rings are at fault here. Clear signs of burning oil but this could also be due to over filling the oil or using the incorrect weighted oil. if the rings are bad, the engine will need a tear down and the cylinders rehomed and new rings or even new pistons installed. Also, the spark plugs may need to be gapped or spaced correctly.

Looks more like the engine is running far to rich causing black sooty deposits
