Mk8 zetec clutch

Featured Replies

Hi wondered if these cars mine is ford fiesta mk8 1.1l ti-vct five-speed
Do theyhave a clutch adjustment or are they auto adjustable

Guessing in picture that's the clutch cable?

Clutch peddle biting point is just over half way up on release of peddle, always has been, guess Ford's are higher biting point as my wife's fiesta is the same hers is older car but almost same biting point though 60k on hers

mine now has 10.5k 3years old and is  ford fiesta mk8 1.1l ti-vct five-speed

That's the gear selector cable.  The clutch is hydraulic with no adjustment.

Brilliant thank you, for the reply

so no cable as such?  Does it self adjust or is it set at a setting whatever it maybe until it wears out?

No worries.  There's no cable at all, it's a hydraulic system, works the same way as the brakes.  The pedal pushes directly on the master cylinder, hydraulic fluid pressure then presses on the slave cylinder inside the gearbox which pushes on the clutch.  The bite point will naturally drop a little as the clutch wears but there's no adjustment for it.

Like you, I've found Ford clutches seem to have quite a high bite with a long pedal travel, but that's just the way they are.
