Stage 1?

Featured Replies

Not had my ST Performance Edition for long but as of now I am loving it and feel like I could never get bored of it. I love the power delivery. The power it has actually feels enough however I've heard that a stage 1 tune changes it completely. If I were to I would probably pick the M235 package as I don't want to have any custom maps, I want to keep the car as like an 'OEM+' format. I'm also contemplating whether or not I should leave the car stock as its a performance edition, and I would kick myself if they were to hold their value well when they are stock. Mountune told me that Ford vehicles with mountune upgrades are 'more sought after' than a stock vehicle, but I'm not sure if they're just telling me that to get my money. I've also seen the power curve comparison as its on their website and the power seems to die off quicker with the map on.

I'd appreciate if anyone could respond with their advice, I wouldn't do anything as of yet as it still has over a years warranty left so if I were to do anything, it would be after the warranty has expired.

Don’t be fooled with the hole mountune hype they only get sort after when mountune discontinue the parts,  however mountune play it save with there maps and the parts are second to none👌, my mk6 st was mountune and back in the day it was the in place to go now well that’s up to you. 🤷‍♂️

im not bashing mountune at all there a good and trustworthy company, just don’t be sucked in cos it’s mountune, if you get my drift 😂

also are they still Ford approved? If they are then that’s another factor to consider.👌

Ford never approved the mountune upgrade for the Mk8, so it could void the warranty, in the same way as any other tuner.

I'd say that the only "more sought after" mountune vehicles would be ones with Ford approval. Which will only be older models now as they seem to have parted ways on warranty approval.

Thanks for your advice, I wouldn't have done anything whilst the warranty is intact. Come to think about it, if I was personally buying a car I wouldn't buy a pre-modified car, even if it was Mountune modified, so maybe other people will think the same. I personally liked the Mountune package compared to the others purely because of the power curve, other maps seem to die off at higher RPM's but Mountune's power curve is linear like the stock curve. As for now I'll keep the car standard and once the warranty is expired, I will consider something then I think. The car is great out of the box though so if I was to keep it stock forever, I don't think I'd be disappointed.
