MK8 Gear Stick Vibration / Roaring sound

Featured Replies

Hello everybody!

Thanks for reading my topic and hopefully help me out with my problem.

So I bought my second hand Fiesta (2017 - 70.000 km) one week ago and already noticed a vibration / roaring sound in the gear stick.
The gear stick also vibrates while doing so, and I've noticed that this happens when I accelerate a little more than a very slow driver (half gas / full).

The problem only seems to be occurring when I accelerate in First gear, Third and Fifth gear (only the top ones).

I already read some problems on this website, with unfortunately not much outcome, forwarded them to my dealer but he says that the problem is just a casual Fiesta problem
(3 cylinders and the mechanism).

Any tips?

This video, not made by me, is exactly what I mean...

Are you showing the problem to a Ford service centre or just a local garage?

Ford service centres are aware of a fix for this issue.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem with mine.

They always come with excuses about the problems of the car being not anomalys but characteristics.

In my case I detected this problem on my car with just 3000 miles! They tried to convince me the vibration was due to the car being 3 cylinders. I asked to try a car of the dealer fleet to be sure it was normal. And surprise: no noise and no vibration!
With much insistence they changed the gear cable linkages and the problem was gone.
I drove more 1000 miles and now it's back.
I still have warranty but in the last reparation they told me this will tend to happen over time...cheap material used by Ford.
